Hi

Currently looking around for a new gearbox for my 1999 mpi which I believe has a 2.76 final drive. I have been looking at gearboxes with a 3.44 or 3.1 final drive. When changing to a different final drive would I need to change anything in the speedo drive to make it read more accurately?

The car has 13 inch wheels with 175/50/13 tyres

Thanks

You will need to change the worm and pinion in the gearbox, otherwise your speedo will be well out.

Thanks for that, is there a calculator I can use to work out the ratio of the worm and pinion?

Thanks for that, what is the standard ratio on my 2.76 final drive?

MPi's have a bespoke 7 tooth worm which drives a small 15 tooth pinion.
