Hi
Currently looking around for a new gearbox for my 1999 mpi which I believe has a 2.76 final drive. I have been looking at gearboxes with a 3.44 or 3.1 final drive. When changing to a different final drive would I need to change anything in the speedo drive to make it read more accurately?
The car has 13 inch wheels with 175/50/13 tyres

You will need to change the worm and pinion in the gearbox, otherwise your speedo will be well out.

Thanks for that, is there a calculator I can use to work out the ratio of the worm and pinion?You will need to change the worm and pinion in the gearbox, otherwise your speedo will be well out.

MPi's have a bespoke 7 tooth worm which drives a small 15 tooth pinion.
