They look like refurbished parts?

The plunger is an original part. The clutch arm was brand new from Minisport. It's in the bin now

excellent work, The paint finish is great.

Where did you get the windscreen fillet strip finisher from? As I got 2 from minispares which say they're Stainless steel on the title but are actually chrome. I had to remove them 2 weeks after fitting to seal the screen and they were already starting to rust :mmkay: I ended up making them from some st/st shim.

I got them from P&L Minis. I still have the originals so if there is a problem, I will fit those.

It's so sad that people are having problems with parts

I've been considering going over to LED headlight globes as well. I too have the Cibie headlights, so they should be quite effective. Do those globes fit without any hassles? Or will you need to modify the bowls?

They fit in no problem but I had to use the original rubber seals at the back of the headlight rather than the ones supplied with the Cibie's

I think those are the same as my bulbs, whered you manage to get them from?

I bought a pair from the UK but I have ordered another pair from here for the spots

There the same spec as the ones I've fitted to my car, the difference between the led's and normal halogen's is like night and day, they fit in quiet easy in the plastic bowls you just have to tuck the wires out of the way. I just had a look through my photos and couldn't find any of the head lights but found some with the led sidelight's,

You can see how bright theses are and the headlight bulbs are even brighter :-)

Blimey those LED bulbs are a complex subject. Now i can't tell from this photo if the bulb is two sided or three sided like the ones in your later eBay link? It seems that the two sided ones are the best judging from this.

LED's can put a lot of lumens out. A lot more than a typical headlight bulb but with less power consumption and much less heat.

Where did you get the stainless runner from, and what is the advantage of the red grease over normal grease?

Nice touch with the stainless runners, where did you get these from? Also did you refurb your existing door mechansisms or buy new? Thanks Pete, I have fantastic reference points for my car now.

I bought the stainless door runners from jonspeed a few years ago. EEK! it's scary how long this build is taking. I've been sourcing parts for years to build this car.

Silkolene RG2 grease is red, no idea why but it's synthetic and gives maximum water penetration protection.

The window winder mechanisms, door catches and latches are all refurbed but the door handles including the boot handle are brand new genuine Rover. Apparently they were "found" at Longbridge when it shut down. I got wise to poor quality aftermarket products and paid a premium for them. Probably money well spent since chrome plating is hard to do now due to legislation. They can't use the chemicals anymore to get that perfect finish.

Paper gaskets are used behind the door handles but it's doubtful if they will do the job. Decided to use butyl tape which will provide a good seal.

Fitted. I tightened the bolts slowly and warmed the butyl sealer up. Excess will be cleared with white spirit

1848_zps37sjppwj.jpg

Door catch refurbed and sprayed silver. Fitted new stainless countersunk bolts

Sorry the thread is all over the place. Lots going on with the engine at the moment but I will post everything up together to try to make it a bit easier to read.

Pete

Thanks for the encouraging replies. I'm trying to get the shell sealed to water test it for leaks though I'm having issues getting the screen in. The screen is the right size (checked it against an original) and so is the shell. The Minisport rubber was too big so I bought a "smaller" one. It's now too sloppy. It's hard to imagine how many screens were fitted to Mini's over the years but I can't seem to get one in.

Not many parts to paint now. Took advantage of some good weather today

These is the second set of headlight bulbs I have bought, the first ones were from UK but these were from China. Exactly the same part but half the price

I'm still working on it every day but not much to post.

Thanks for looking

Have you got a screen rubber from Phoenix trim? I've only heard good things about them and their communication is top notch. I'm waiting on delivery of a couple of items from them myself.
