Just wondering, is there anything special i need to know if i want to spray my rocker cover and other bits, its just because the rocker cover gets hot. Do i need heat resist paint or normal.

I'm going in the order of,

1. De-grease with gunk and (maybe paint stripper??)
2. Prime with suitable primer rattle can
3. Dry
4. Rattle can with double acrylic paint
5. In true Haynes style, refit is the reverse of removal.

Tell me please before i go and make a mess (more of a mess of my engine bay).

Just one more question for all guru's. Any smart ways of cleaning engine of all oil C**p without removing it, ie gunk says "wash with strong jet of warm water", err electrics + water = bad? or does anyone recomend those ere steam cleaners like those JML jobbie?

Cheers,

Nate. :P

I’ve used Hammerite on both the engine and rocker cover worked fine so far

And the was I degreased my engine first was with a selection of paint brushes, white sprit and a rag to wipe it back off

if you take your engine to a steam cleaners they just slap a carrier bag over the dizzy to prevent problems, does the job. Also dont forget to key the metal before you spray so as the paint sticks to it, otherwise it'll be flaking off in no time. I agree with 1984mini25 though, hammerite is more than up to the job, less hassle and plenty of paint in the pot to do a whole engine bay.

like this hahaha :P

Bert: Did you use brushes for that hammerite? Or a spray can?

and bluemin1: Does the plasticote not flake off once the engine's used?

Both of them look very good.

i used paintbrushes. to get the finish it has i layed the paint on thick then drizzled the opposing colour on top while it was still wet. On the splash gaurd i really caked the paint on, thats why its got that crazy effect. glad you like it. I must inform you though, it is copyrighted :P

Cheers guys, ill give those ideas a go, i love the blue metallic, think ill try the red equivalent or maybe black with sparkles in it, who knows??

Ill do it next week as the stupid weather men cant make their pissin minds up and sed it was supposed to be raining all this week.

If i go by them i wouldn't of changed my oil or fitted a new rocker cover seal or fitted my halogens, so that shows them, lol.

Theres no such thing as bad weather just the wrong clothing! :P

Cheers all,

Nate :-
