hello.
just want your thoughts on a valuation on this mk1 mini.

mini seven 1960 tax free mk1 mini 850cc.
taxed and tested
all original. all working perfectly
starts and drives superb.
in grey no rust anywere
fully restored in 2007 and dry stored since.
this car is ready for shows.
all vin tags and engine numbers match the v5.
one owner from 1960 to 2007.
got some nice little paper documents from the 1960s.

this is a very early shell.
no seatbelts or holes for them.
has extra boot hooks so boot can be strapped open when driving.
no wing mirrors to early.
the front valance is the correct early one
the rear gutter holes are the very early type.
the radius arms are the very early ones
and it has steel rear suspension trumpets.
the interior is the original so inst perfect but doesnt need changing.
it still has a floor start and a floor flasher.
magic wand box.
old style boot lock
the rear window has no recess in ithe shell like on the latter mk1 s
it really is a time warp.
registered in may 1960



please only make genuine educated estimates.

The last year has seen a rapid increase in the price of Mk1 Minis, although they've been climbing for a while. I've seen cars like this go for as much as £12-15,000 average, even up to £20,000. But also as little as £5000. Being registered in May '60 makes it a very early car. It all looks massively original and great condition. I think £12,000 is probably a pretty reasonable estimate as a good starting price.

Yours is far more original, that has no proof of original milage and it should be Cherry Red or Tartan red which it definitely doesn't look to be to me. So the paint isn't original either. It definitely isn't Maroon B which is the final red available on a Mk1 Mini.

great. i thought to the correct man or women that it wouldn't be over priced at £10k

also i didn't realise that these early minis were so different to the 1962 minis.
the sills on this are nothing like a 62 car there is no inner outer sill its just one sill with no vents in just flat.
if anyone is interested ill get some photos up tomorrow.
also on the A panels on a 62 car there is a tube from a panel to inner wing but on there there isnt.

been driving it today and with it having no seat belts feels a bit strange,

As with anything it's what somebody is willing to pay isn't it. It might be worth £15k but if nobody is in the market for that car you'll struggle to get 10. But Mk1's seems to be hugely desirable at the moment so it's a good time to be buying and selling I think

I was going to say exactly the same as craig.

The problem is, most people that have that kind of money, wouldn't be after a mini, so while many mini enthusiasts would love it, only a few would be in the market place for such a beautiful piece of history.

Probably between £11000 and £13000 as it is. With a bit of work such as putting the original door pull strings on instead of the handles, cleaning up the engine bay and especially the brake & clutch cylinders, cleaning the interior panels a bit (but definately not changing them) and generally making it in truly 'mint' condition, and it looks to be almost there, you could be looking at £16000 or even more.

Lovely example of an early one. A few points;

I wouldn't doubt the front panels have been replaced. No body number on slam panel. It might have been built that way but I don't think so.
The wiper motor is painted black. Check for a date stamp.
It doesn't have wing mirrors, then again maybe it never did, but most did.
The master cylinders have plastic caps,
I'm not sure if this late model would have single-hole window latches, don't think so. Check the date on the glass.
It has opening rear glass, nice!

I'd be chuffed.

Big smile on my face now, I have a June 1960 Austin Seven in my garage, in similarly good and original condition.

a 1963 austin 848 went for £5200 over here last month all totally orignal with no bodywork done and was garaged for the last 35 years...............................so yours being restored .................£3000..........
