the lambda sensor if you look is on the exhaust manifold quite near the top, there is not one on the catalytic convertor. if you take the convertor off it doesn't mean to say that it will fail on emmissions because your engine might be running quite good and not exceed the emissions boarder. You can improve emissions another way like fitting an engine breather filter. But what it would fail on is not meeting EU rules by not having a catalytic convertor.

Cars pre 1993 do not need to have a converter by law, so they can be removed 'legally'

If you wanted to remove the catalytic converter- maniflow do a de-cat pipe for £18 which i have got, but not fitted yet, or you could by a non cat RC40 exhaust system which should be a full system from the manifold if i am correct???
