Hello there, I thought it's time to start a topic on my impulse purchase gt I bought nearly 3 years ago...........Damn Ebay .this will be the first car I have ever attempted to restore so I will be all ears to any tips/advice you may want to share this is my third mini,my first was nearly 26 years ago ,anyway to date the gt is fully stripped and awaiting my first attempt in mig welding to make a spit.....bear with me....a novice welder and car restorer.....eeek,I may be some time..... Here's some pics of the gt as It came to me,by the way it's a one owner unmolested original car that had genuinely been off the road for some thirty years.....enjoy.

Yes,I think it deserves to go back original,it's tempting to do my own thing but not on this car

I love it when something turns up like a 1275GT which are getting rare now and be nice to put it back standard

Thanks for the positive comments so far...the general opinion seems in my favour of keeping it original so thats the plan ,here's a few pics as it arrived back in jan 2010.....mmmmmm.....rust

It's great to see original car pictures 72GT. I am just nearing the end of my complete bare metal restoration of a 1972 GT and one of the questions I haven't got a good answer to is the exact type of badge on the A-panel. There seem to be 2 types and most cars I look at have either lost them with an A-panel repair or had them replaced.

Yours seems to have the original badge intact. Do you have a close up picture of it in situ? If not, do you have a picture of it removed?

Any help gratefully received and good luck with your project. It took me 2 years to do mine, working diligently for 9 hours every Sunday.
