Managed to get a gearbox monday night and was stripped tuesday and all is good, busy prepping block and casings for paint while the crank gets reground, block found to be +20 oversize and bores are good so just new rings, mains and big end shells, have been lucky..could have been a lot worse .

Oh this brings back memories of my first mini. A 1969 (i think it was) 'H' reg 1275GT. Same steering wheel and 1275GT centre badge as yours and interior seat design, single carb, 10" Rostyle wheels, and also my 69 model was on hydrolastic suspension. Ignition key in centre dash above the heater, no steering lock.

Very interesting thread here, just had a quick flick through at the mo, keep the updates coming.

Great project and great to here that you are going to keep it in it's original colour and trim, I've not seen a green mallard GT before.

My teal blue has the lime flower trim. The guy who restored it repainted the trim with vinyl paint that was colour matched by Woolies Trim http://www.woolies-t...renovation.aspx

Hi there, looks like a good project, I love GT's. Just a quick question, what paint have you used on the engine?

Thanks

Hi Rich, paint used is PJ1 engine and case satin finish, have used this paint plenty of times on engine parts with great results, plenty available through ebay but pricey with postage,I buy mine from m&p motorcycles in swansea,£9.95 a can from there.Attached File  011.jpg   43.29K   16 downloadsAttached File  016.jpg   46.63K   43 downloads

Thanks! The finish looks excellent! I'll definitely be using it on mine. :-)

A man after my own heart when it comes to detail. Great thread! Love the engine work, it looks too good to go into an engine bay! Lol
