Small update

Thought it was about time to refit the fuel tank so before it went in I took the opportunity to apply some cavity wax

Used the dynax UC from the spray can as it runs well and its what was to hand at the time
Ill be using dynax cavity on the rest of the car but that will be done with my compressor

With the tank fitted on went the boot lid

Now if you follow this you would have seen me fit the earlier boot lid seal well that got changed for the later type which is a far better seal

Bit more fettling to do but Im happy with the fit for now

Ive some silent coat on order which Ill be fitting when it arrives so I made a start on trimming the underlay
Going to make this car nice and quiet ( well as quiet as a mini can be 😆) my boy racer days are long gone 😉

Weather has been crap so I havent got half done that Id planned to do hopefully this will change as I need a decent day to get the headliner finished off then the glass can go back in
Roll on the summer

Im looking at getting some of that dynax stuff. Would you recommend it? Does it dry clear?
What underlay are you using? Looks good.

Hi Steve
Im using Dynax UC ( underbody clear ) for all the wheel arches underfloor etc and Dynax S50 for the cavities ( its a brown colour) far better product than waxoyl
Yes the UC dries clear and goes on nice I have got 5 litre cans of both UC and S50 as I use my compressor with my wax applicator tools but I used the cans on my lads car just as good
Just one thing with the UC make sure you dont use the car for a couple of days after you apply it as it needs time to set or youll find all the road crap will stick to your nicely waxed car 😆
Re the underlay I got it from bingley hall mini show some time back its all pre cut just requires minimal trimming

Cheers
Mark

Many thanks. No danger of using it just yet. Its at a similar stage to yours so for me, will be few months at least before its out.

I hope you're not going to refit the grille with self tappers on that lovely shiny front end :o    -guaranteed to promote rust.

I squared the top holes & fitted plastic inserts to take the No8 screws (http://www.minispare...38.aspx|Back to). Only fitted the top screws & pop-riveted a couple of strips of metal to the bottom of the grille (covered with sections of a wiper motor rubber strap to stop vibration & protect the paintwork). Also pop-riveted (carefully & after checking the position was perfect) the grille surrounds to the grille  -taking the grille off now takes 2 mins :-)

😃 lol no rusty old screws holding my grill on Im using stainless riv nuts and stainless bolts
Like the idea of some sort of cushioning between the grill and body 👍🏻
