Hi All,
Does anyone know if it is possible to respray the interior parts of the car i.e. all the nasty grey plasticky stuff that is in my 88 mini like the steering column and the top part of the dash (with the asstray in it)?
I want to do it black to match the dashboard I am going to put in..
I am sure I remember reading something in an old max power (no sniggering) about having to rub it down and prime it but I have not idea what to use !
Secondly, how easy is it to get the top of the dash (with the asstray) off ? I can see lots of little metal clips underneath (sort of bent in half circles). Is it just a case of taking these off then giving it a yank ?
Thanks.
Jimmy

You can get specialist vinyl and ABS plastic sprays from Halfords.

Plastikote do some good stuff too...

Best place to buy it is in your local HobbyCraft. Buy the homeware stuff - they do a vinyl spray

I went mad with plastikote in my mini! I didn't prime anything and it came out ok but i think it's may have been better if i had, or just did more coats.
here i did my door cards, clock surround, steering column shroud and ashtray, and a few other bits not in photo. I would have done more as i think its an easy way to create an individual mini its just plastikote's a bit expensive

I’ve painted up all my black plastic like the steering column and front door pockets with hammertite,
Sprayed them with halfords primer first then just brushed on the hammerite and seams to be well stuck so far.
