With something like that I'd try and find somewhere to have it chemically dipped or sand blasted.

How much would that cost? Would it not be cheaper to find a second hand grille?

Ive got a few cooper grilles lying about :w00t:

Wanted to keep this one as its original
Ill get the surface rust off with one of those drill bits then but its gunna be a pain in the ass to get between those slats

My mum suggested i dip it in loads of tesco value coke :w00t: but she wont let me use the bath to do it :dontgetit:

once you do get 99.9% of the rust off brush paint it with hammerite as spray paint might not get into all the corners

coke won't do much, good old fastioned hard work i'm afraid

Id take it to a sandblaster, but it'll probably set you back at least £30.

The alternative is to use Nitromors and a pressure washer (instead of the scraper. The pressure will "scrape" it for you!). That'll take off all the paint, the your left with a good old file and sandpaper to get the rusty surface smooth. Spray on some POR15 to get rid of the rust that's left, and prepar it/paint it as normal.
