I like bonnet badges. What arches are they?

Arches are Wood & Picket from Wood and Picket. The bonnet badge is the standard Mk3 one.

You should be able to pick one up at a show or on Ebay for a lot less than the one above.

I'll have a look at Bingley this weekend.

To do retro properly you'll need..

Oversills
Chicken wire
Filler
The Sun
Rattle cans
Pancake air filter

Thats how we used to modify them anyway!!!!

And if your doing your resto on a Sunday replace The Sun with The News of the World, and don't forget the furry seat covers and sun strip.

  • Seen on some Jap Minis, a little high level brake lamp that fits on a bracket but looks really period, I'll try and find a pic as it's what I'm planning to do to mine also.

Exactly what I have planned. Got the brackets just waiting for the lamps!

Not like that no! Though that was my original plan, but i felt that since they wouldn't fit flush against the rear screen the, the whole back of the car would light up when braking.

I am waiting for these to arrive from the U.S of A. i will mount one each side and as flush to the window as i can.

I will use these brackets (in black) -

Some inspiration from Japan....

You could also just use some universal bike lamps ....

That one above is the one I was trying to find a pic of. Can you link me to the ones you're buying please? They look fab! Just the look I was going for. I won't be copying you don't worry, will try and find the ones I was referring to or maybe another design

Sorry for the slow reply, I've not been online for a couple of days.

On the back I have a Mk1 Mini script (from the Austin version) and a Mk2 1275 badge.

to me retro is no arches, 10inch wheels, lashings of chrome or stainless steel and a clean and simply interior with a 3 clock centre binnacle but im not biased at all :-P heres how mine is looking so far but it still needs more shiny bits and different touches to make it a bit more retro :-)

I really like the back. I'm tempted to get a retro mini script. I also really like your painted number plate light.

So true!

When people say 'retro' really wish they would decide which decade first!

Does help making ideas easier.

In the end cars potentially just end up looking like they've had a range of bits thrown at 'em.

So to the original OP. When you say 'retro' what do you mean exactly.

Are you after a particular period ie 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's.
