I had one on my wife's 998 and it ran great. My experience with them was excellent. I was having some issues getting everything to work. I ended up with a bad unit and he sent me a replacement straight out.

I've just had an ignition module from them that failed completely after 3 miles. They did send out a replacement the next day, but part of me doesn't trust it working for long either.

I have had one on my daily driver for about four years now with no problems and as they say, you will notice the difference as soon as you turn the key.

I had lots of the usual problems with cold starting and running on my 1973 998, and regularly having to replace the contact points and condensor. I fitted a Powerspark replacement 25D electronic distributor and coil (www.simonbbc.com) and now it starts on the first touch, runs really smoothly, hardly needs any choke from cold and fuel economy is better too. Excellent conversion - would recommend it to anyone, and the company are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Apparently they sell hundreds of these units, so the odd one may fail but don't let that put you off, they would just swap it straight away. You'll never look back and the difference in running is really surprising.

I bought the whole powerspark ignition kit (with new coil and leads) and it works an absolute treat! Simonbbc is great! :D

Just a shame then that the 25d dizzy has to much advance for a 998.

What makes you say that? Why would they design it with too much advance? Surely if that was the case, the engine would not run properly, you would hear "pinking" if the timing was wrong, and also, they would have changed it by now? If people are generally really pleased with the way their cars run, there are no noticeable problems with the advance curve through the rev range, and engines run really smoothly and much more reliably, then the advance timing can't be very far out?

Hi Leroy26 - as you started this topic, are you able to correct the typo in the subject title to Simon BBC / Powerspark? Thanks

I fitted one of their replacement 45d(?) dizzies and couldn't get it to work right. Far too much advance and difficult starting. Reverted to points now. Must stress that I didn't bother contacting the company about it so can't say if it was a faulty unit or not
