I asked them specifically about the advance. They say that they measure all of the distributors on their dyno that they have in house so they can match the older curves with each unit they supply. Some of these advance settings have changed over the years because of the fuel so most of the curves take this into account too.

I fitted one of their replacement 45d(?) dizzies and couldn't get it to work right. Far too much advance and difficult starting. Reverted to points now. Must stress that I didn't bother contacting the company about it so can't say if it was a faulty unit or not

How would far too much advance cause difficult starting - there wouldn't be any advance at starting would there? Sounds like static timing was way out.

I'm no expert so had Gerald Dale Motorsport look at it and he couldn't do anything with it either.

Got one of Simon's 25D kits in my 850, running and idling so much better than on the old points and condensor. Helpful guy to deal with and happy to answer technical queries.

Why, didn't he know what he was looking at? You could test the thing off the car quite easily and see if it was getting sparks.

I'd tend to stay away from good Motorsport if he couldn't tell you what the problem was - it ain't rocket science.

It was certainly producing sparks but not necessarily at the right time!

I'd tend to go back to my last statement - whoever was trying to fit it hadn't got a clue.
