Is there a better way of removing unwanted paint (flicks) than something like T-Cut? I think the neighbours have been painting and my mini has bore the brunt.

any help would be appreciated as t-cut is removing more of my paint than the flicks

thanks

what type of paint is it? if it's emulsion then it's water based and if you use nice warm soapy water and a little pressure it'll come off no problem! :-

Yep, try warm soapy water first... If it's just not shifting then give it a light rub with some white spirit.

Most household paints are spirit based, but be careful and try it on an inconspicuous area first, just incase you have some weird paint on your mini that will melt with white spirit (highly unlikely though) :-

Good luck!

Acetone (nail varnish remover) will remove most uncured paints, but as above there is a risk of it taking off your good paint as well.

Autoglym tar remover or insect remover would probably work.

maybe politely ask your neighbours what sort of paint it was they used? Then you know what you're going to have to do to remove it...

By this i assume you mean the cloth you are polishing with has colour coming off on it ?

If so you should not need to worry about it, it should not rub through, you are just removing dead paint..

If nothing else this will bring a nice shine to your paint..

A couple coats of wax after the T-Cut and you should have a nice shiny protected car..

Realised where the paint has come from. I take back my unfounded accuastions on my neighbours - so quick to accuse lol. :ermm:

Took the mini to a garage to replace my under sil and he painted it after but obviously didnt cover any of the paintwork, completely forgot about it, under the dirt and mud from winter must not have noticed. does this change the circumstances at all?

Yep!

Because now it's probably underseal or 2k paint......

You won't get that off with soapy water, white spirit or a clay bar.... The only thing you can do is rub it out with compound or wet and dry paper, especially as it's been there a long time- it will have properly set into the paint layer underneath now.

If I were you, I'd be inclined to take it back to the garage who forgot to mask your car up and get them to deal with it!

If they say it won't come off then they owe you a respray of the parts covered with their paint! :ermm:
