Brimmed then down to the red, and back again.

Managed to get 54 mpg from 998cc 'Stage 1', 71,000miles 1989 original engine.

A trip up the m42/m1 and back and some knocking around town got me 208 miles from a tank.

Whats your best/worst mpg?

Motorway was driven at no faster than 60mph and on the return journey it was 1am and drafted a lorry most of the way home.
No excess weight in the car, tyres correct pressure and always making sure in the right gear...timing the traffic lights/roundabouts really helped. Treat the pedals like money sticks...the more you press them, the more it costs

Only ever worked it out once, standardish 1275 carb which was 20.53 mpg (a bit poor if you ask me)

That's pretty impressive.

I can't compare, but the best I've done comparatively is in my Saab 9000, something that usually gets 25mpg from our usual mixed driving, or early 30's when behaving on a motorway. I was in the middle of London with the fuel light on but couldn't be bothered to stop and was on my way back to Kent. My partner's Dad always goes on about hypermiling his Disco by using lorries slipstream on the motorway so thought I'd give it a go. Longest journey ever, but very exciting as I was chancing it and had no idea if I'd make it. Bit hard to calculate accurately but working it out I must have just gone over the 40mpg mark. The range indicator that changes depending on your recent average mpg (so would have been displaying a lot longer range than is usual for the fuel I had left) was saying 8 miles by the time I reached the petrol station on the edge of my town so I must have been on vapours.

1275 MPi

Usually driven 'briskly'. 50 miles per day, mixed driving conditions.

Average: 35mpg
Best: 40mpg
Worst: 25mpg

I managed 198 miles on £13.50 fuel. At the time it worked out at 66mpg. Standard 998, me and one bag of clothes, and a big draggy lorry down a dual carriage way at 56 for about 170 miles of it!

About 40mpg was average but I probably could have got more if I bothered to try. That was from a standard 998 complete with oil leak.

Worst was about 10 mpg when I maxed my mini out.

Any consumption figures based on a single tank are "hopeful" at best.
Needs to be an average of at least three tankfuls to be realistic due to different filling levels, pump accuracy etc etc.
