Anyone fancy spectating on this event then keep yer eyes pealed on the below website for spectator information.

On the website is also a starting list so you can have a look at what cars are competing....plenty of mini's and some Cooper S's and also the odd Escort and Alfa and everything else in between.

The event is mainly a 'regularity' road event but has 'special tests' spread throughout the day so you can see some classic cars being thrashed around some country estates and rough car parks etc.

I'll be in a Grey and Black clubman so come along and cheer us along....don't laugh if we're at the back though as its our first event.

Hi, my son and I did the HRCR rally school at Knutsford a couple of weeks ago and it was run by guys from KDMC. it was very good and the TOC sounds good as well. our clubman is a long way from completion, but when done may well consider the TOC in the future.

Hope you have a good rally, enjoy!

We did the training too. Was a worthwhile day i think....and you got a free hat! Knutsford are a very organised club so i wouldn't have expected anything other than a well organised day and ToC is one of the better beginner events to cut yer teeth on....I HOPE!!!!!

If you keep yer eye out on the ToC website (link above) there should be speccy info on there. Otherwise get to the start (wild boar hotel) and someone there should be able to give you the speccy info. Other likely 'special tests' are Cholmondeley estate and maybe Combermere Abby (but not too sure on that one).

Heaps of old mini's and really nice cars on the event so if you can get across to have a look it will be worth it.

Seeded entry list now available on ToC website.

We are seeded 75 (last) so sorry if you have to wait for us but fingers crossed some tests will be run twice so should keep the interest throughout the day.

Give us a wave if you're out spectating, or if you see us at the start or parked up in a queue come over and say hello...but if we look like we're plotting the route then please understand we might not be too chatty.

Fingers crossed for good weather for all spectators and fingers crossed we get round!

Tour of Cheshire Historic Road Rally

Spectator Guide

On Saturday 2nd March 2013 Knutsford and District Motor Club will be running a Historic Road Rally in and around Cheshire

About 75 vehicles from the 50s or earlier, 60s and 70s will be taking part; they will be navigating their way around the beautiful and interesting Cheshire countryside (with a brief excursion over the border into Wales). Throughout the day they will complete a tour of around 140 miles, starting and finishing near Beeston and stopping at places of interest and heritage sites. If you would like to see the 75 crews participating and take in the sight of historic cars such as Triumph TR3s and TR4s, Mini Coopers, Morris Minor, Citroen DS21, MG Midget and MGBs, early Ford Escorts, Ford Anglia, Sunbeam Tiger, Hillman Imps and Avengers, Mercedes, Alfa Romeos, early Porsches, a Bond Equipe and many other vehicles (see below for how you can access the full list of cars and crews), we have compiled a list of Public Houses and other locations along the route that will hopefully give a great vantage point for watching the event, whilst making a great place to stop and take in the hospitality of some of the area’s finest pubs. (We cannot promise they will all be open at the time the rally passes, however, but some certainly will!). Please park carefully so as not to impede the rally, customers nor members of the general public. The rally will take about 1½ hours to pass. Most of the other locations which the cars visit are private and spectators cannot be admitted. Times below are approximate. Note in the event of bad weather or other problems the route and times may have to be altered at the last minute.

  • Wild Boar Hotel, Beeston (on A49). The rally starts and finishes here, but parking space is at a premium and required for the competitors. Spectators are asked to please park in one of the lay-bys on the A49 – a large one to the north and a smaller one to the south, both within walking distance. First car starts 8.30am and finishes back here around 4.20pm.
  • Carden Arms, Tilston. Village green area also suitable for spectating. Cars will be going from E to W, on a regularity section. First car due 9.25am.
  • Grosvenor Arms, Aldford (on B5130). A short coffee stop for competitors. A good place to see all the cars and crews. Approach from N, depart to S. First car due 10.40am.
  • ******* O’Barton pub, Barton (on A534). On a regularity section, cars approach from E and depart to S. First car due 11.15am.
  • Egerton Arms, Broxton. A41 and A534 intersection.Cars use the roundabout from W to N and some may take on fuel at the filling station (if open – it’s been closed recently). On a transport section. First car due 11.25am.
  • Carriers Arms, Hatchmere (on B5152). On a transport section, cars approach from the N. First car due 2.00pm.
  • Delamere Forest. On the ‘switchback road’ – the yellow road running E-W through the forest (head west from Hatchmere). Numerous lay-bys for spectators. Cars will be heading east to west on a regularity section. First car due 2.15pm.
  • Woodland car park near Oulton Park race circuit (just W of the main entrance). Cars approach from the West, then turn right at a junction. There are woodland parking areas at the junction. This is on a regularity section. Note the rally does NOT enter the race circuit. Cars approach from the W and depart to the S, first car due 3.10pm.
  • Jolly Tar, Wardle, near Barbridge (on A51).Near the canal. Cars approach from the NW and pass on the A51 on a transport section. First car due 3.40pm.
  • Wild Boar Hotel, Beeston for the finish see details and requests above.

We hope you can get out and enjoy the spectacle of our motoring heritage weaving its way through the countryside and also give support and/or a donation to the North West Air Ambulance - a charity which the Tour of Cheshire and Knutsford & DMC are supporting. If you would like more details of the event (including the full entry list) and the North West Air Ambulance then visit the event web site at www.tourofcheshire.co.uk

Beeston Cattle market has three special tests at it (1 in the late morning and 2 in the afternoon) so if you want value for money then there would be a good bet.

If parking at special tests, please park out of the way and don't block any entrances or exits. If in doubt, ask a marshal.

Hope to see plenty of speccies out giving everyone support.

I'm off into the garage to do some last minute tweeks and then off to scruitineering so the next time I update it will after the event....fingers crossed it'll be a happy update!!!
