Bought Minimagazine today and I found that my car and restoration was chosen as one of their top 20 restorations in the 20 years of the magazine.

I do not know why but it has brought me to tears seeing my car on the same page as legends of the mini scene, Anyone who is thinking that they can not end up with a nice car by restoring it at home are wrong. It is not just a hobby it is a passion that keeps on giving time and time again, The stories i hear every time i show the car and the passion shown when people tell them are priceless.

I am not sure if this is allowed, I not please let me know admin and I will delete the new thread.

I am restoring a 1957 Lambretta LD series 3 and the finished bike will be a tribute to the Mini Traveller Countryman Woody. The bike will be painted in surf blue and old english white. The floor strips, rear passanger footrests, and rear oval vents will be made from ash to match my Mini and when done I will take to shows and show it alongside the Mini.

I know it is a strange thing to do but I have itchy restoration fingers and I have no room for another car so the Mini is pushed to one side in the garage and I can squeeze a bike in.

I finally got a jack and tool bag to finish the car off. The ratchet and brace are the originals that I found in the car when i bought it and the jack is from ebay. The car is all ready for the NEC on Thursday and can not wait to see it amongst all the other cars, If anyone is passing the Practical Classics stand please stop to say hello. :-)

Very cool. That tool bag looks like new and congrats on winning the award. Your restoration definitely deserved it.

The bag is from Newton Commercial, I think it is the correct one as mine was missing.

I've just been through your build from start to finish - beautiful job! A couple of questions - how did you do the lettering on the heater facias; did you end up keeping the underfelt on the crossmember & if so how did you join the crossmember carpet to the front footwell carpet - although it may be different to my '89 saloon. Thanks
JohnR
