I've noticed that good second hand doors are almost impossible to get hold of nowadays and those that don't outwardly appear to have any rust are being eaten from inside out through the seams. I'd like to offer my services re-skinning and repairing all versions of Mini doors for £90/door or £160 for a pair. They will be re-skinned using good quality non genuine skins (heritage skins available for an extra £45). Supplied in etch primer ready to paint, waxoyled and seam sealed internally to ensure they last much longer than the originals.

You can either bring your doors to me in Hereford, west mids (exchange available, please contact me first for availability) or email/call to arrange a courier collection and delivery for an additional £25 per door/pair of doors

I am interested, have mk1 doors but the bottom of the door frame is shot. Would you be able to repair this as well? And how long roughly would it take? I would need the hinge holes welding up as I have internal hinges.

Just a few questions, are the doors trial fitted in a jig or on a car before being welded up?
if they are waxoyled before/after being etched primed, will it cause reactions when being painted?
for mk1 doors how do you attach the hinge support brackets to the door skin? and again are they trial fitted to a car before welding up? many thanks.

Hi Pat,

I'm interested too, do you offer a complete service including paint and re-fitting of door cards, handles etc?

Cheers,

I sent a pair of Mk. 1 (1962) doors to Luke.  They didn't look too bad but there was paint blistering at the bottom and I suspected there were problems under the filler, which could only get worse!  Turned out that the filler was 10mm thick and was covering far more extensive rot than I had feared........

Doors back with me now.  New skins, bases expertly welded and like new and all painted in etch primer ready for finishing - all at a price which I think is an absolute bargain.

Thanks Luke.  One very happy customer here.

Bob

Thank's for the kind words Bob, glad you are happy with them. They did have a little filler...

The drivers door was worse as someone had bashed it in and filled the whole skin

The MK3's I check in a car, MK1's I use a wooden jig I made that bolts through  the hinge holes

Waxoiled before so that I can remove any wax from the front before etch, after it would be impossible and cause a nightmare when painting

I spot weld the MK1 hinge brackets to the door skin

Think that's all!
