may be worth asking a paint shop what they could spray it for if you did the prep work.

Absolutely possible to get a great finish using cans. A body shop wpould probably charge 60 - 100 pounds to paint the roof if you prepped it
but much more satisfying to do it yourself.

Get your prep work done and then apply several coats.
Sit the cans in warm water for about 20 mins to allow them to warm up, this will help the paint flow better

You will have to watch the paint as it goes on to understand the next bit..

When you are spraying paint on look at the paint as it hits the panel and you will see as it goes on the paint starts dry (sandy texture) thats too this or dry spray.

As it builds up you wil start to see it get a little shiny thats wen you stop spraying as it should flow out and become smooth and shiny

If you were to keep spraying the paint would look real glossy but probably start to run after a few secs, thats too much paint you will probably get the paint pitting and dimpling as it dries (Orange peel)

If you still keep going and make the paint run while you are spraying it will orange peel

Apply your coats left to right or vice versa and overlap each line of paint by 50 % effectively giving it 2 coats.
When putting the paint on you should just start to see a tiny bit of shine to the paint,
after the first coat then leave it for 10 - 15 mins, then apply the 2nd, you probably want about 4 coats minimum

The downfall of the can if that you dont get that thick a coat of paint.

Once the paint dries if it looks sandy or has a few runs, dont worry about it these can be fixed easily.

Leave the paint to dry properly for a couple weeks as the solvents evapourate and the paint sinks a little.

Then using p2000 wet and dry and lots and lots of soapy water (fairy liquid is fine) flat and polish it.

halfords cans are alright but you are far better going to a paintshop to get decent spray cans that have propper nozzles that will give an even coverage of paint, ive done a couple of scooters with rattle cans and got a great finish but you cant beat a compressor and decent gun
