We didn't actually fit ours, the previous owner did, but he's just used the original rubber surrounds. They seem secure enough...

Ah, never really considered using the mechanism and seals to just replace the glass with the plastic. will ponder on that. And cheers, will take a look through the build. I have done before, but again cant hurt ;D

Leave the rubber in the door frame slide the window up tight and then drill a small hole on the inner weather strip seam of the door then into the poly window, re drill the door the next size up so when fitting the screw it bites into the poly rather than the door.then you can cut all the door skin out and save lots of weight.

You can also get mk1/2 style two piece poly windows that slide open as per original mini windows rather than the letter box style. Depends what you want really....but the two piece ones do have a nice retro vibe

On mine I left the old glass seal in and then drilled about 6 holes along the bottom edge. Using number plate nuts and bolts to hold it in place and a bit of clear sealant to make it waterproof.

Can you only fit theses to mk1/2 doors or can they be fitted to later cars?
Also have you got a link to some?

Thanks

Its to fit later doors with the wind down windows.....mk3 onwards.

the company you need to speak to are the mini door company.

http://www.minidoor.co.uk/

They'll do a full refurb of your doors, and fit the poly kit with sliders etc and away you go....they even do lightweight alloy skin versions.....mmmmmmmm!!!!!! :D :D :D

Or buy the bits from them and do it yourself.

Plastics4performance - They will make to order. With or without rubbers. I fit mine to my se7en using M5 bolts. Row along the bottom of the door and use the existing rubbers.

If you need some windows still give us a shout, 10% off to all TMFers.

Easiest way is to use original rubber, slot the window up and drill through the door where the inner weather strip usually goes, using a few self-tapping screws. You shouldn't need any sealants to seal the windows then and all of the mechanisms can be removed.

Sorry for going OT, but will you be extending the range available? If I keep my Mk2 Ibiza Cupra I'll be looking for a set of side windows for it in the winter....

If you give Tony a call on 07977 231876 or 01275 546008 he'll be able to help you out more than I can as regards the Ibiza.

Cheers
Dan
