What colour wire are the indicators on the stalk? Mine have stopped working along with brake lights for some strange reason

What year/model Mini are we talking about? I'll take a look at the wiring diagram and come back to you

Not strange - top fuse is my guess
Main fuses (four-fuse fuse block - later models)
Fuse connecting Rating (amp) Circuits protected
1 and 2 35 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Stop lights, reversing lights, direction indicator relay, heated rear window, headlight dim-dip relay. These systems will only operate with the ignition switch at position ll
3 and 4 25 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Horn, headlight flasher, brake failure circuit, radio memory. These systems operate independently of the ignition switch
5 and 6 25 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Heater blower motor, windscreen wipers/ washers, instruments. These systems will operate with the ignition switch at position I or ll
7 and 8 15 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Left-hand side and tail lights, instrument panel lights, headlight dimdip relay

The top fuse in the fuse box on the bulkhead (under the bonnet) powers the stop lights (brake lights) and the indicator relay, along with heated rear screen and reverse lights - check if your heated screen works - if not, you have a dodgy fuse.

It's not connected atm, if I try the reverse lights would that point towards the fuse?

Thanks, I cut the purple wire and was worried it was the indicators.

Have you checked the fuses as suggested above? have you got a 12v feed on both sides of the fuses connections with the ignition on.

How could I check the fuse and voltage? Would it be ok to try swapping the fuse with another one from the fuse box to see if it works?

Visually check the fuse, but remember they are different amps so not swapible, but to sucessfully diagnose and fix electrical faults you do really need a volt meter, otherwire its guess work

Where was the purpule you cut? for reference purple is used on the headlight flash switch
