Soo, when i originally built my engine i was in a hurry and decided to use the piston rings that came on the second hand pistons. This was a bad idea and its been burning oil since i built it.

With the IMM around the corner i decided to build up another gearbox with a 3.2FD rather than the 3.44 i currently have.

Today was the day i decided to remove the engine and i thought ide document it.

This is filmed in real time.....

Haha, im not that fast!

I set up my GoPro Hero3 Blk on timelapse mode which took a photo every 5 seconds. I then used "Time Lapse Assembler" on my mac to convert the pictures to a Video at 30fps.

With abit of fading in iMovie and some titles i made this video. (Music added after through Youtubes audio editing bit)

Enjoy

That engine is a beast anyway. :D

Jack, are you gonna run the 3.1FD forever now?

Thanks for the feedback guys, i wish ide taken a timelapse of me building the new gearbox up but i forgot.

I will get one of me putting the piston rings on, putting them in the engine and then putting the block on the gearbox. Basically the reverse of the video you have just seen.

Im a fast worker haha

All that in 1min 40 seconds ish.

That's pretty cool. If I'd done a time lapse of mine, there would be a fair few seconds of me standing there with a cup of tea!!!

I was out there last night putting the pistons back in and was aware it was taking photos as i was downing my tea down in one.

I was out there last night putting the engine back on the gearbox with new rings installed. Got lots planned this weekend, mainly primer and painting stuff. Will update this post when ive create the assembly video.

Nice work I like the video. I thought about doing something similar showing a full cylinder head strip, port job & rebuild. Maybe when I get time .....

Phil.

Thanks, you should. Its alot easier if you have a camera with the time lapse feature like a GoPro or Canon DSLR with Magic Lantern custom firmware.
