Thanks. Yes my Son and I can't wait to see it finished either! We are making progress, but it feels very slow. Finding sufficient time to work on it is the issue, but determined to be driving it in 2015!!

Decided to fit this fuel pump in the end. The previous small square pimp was fine, bit didn't like it mounted on the boot floor and wouldn't have liked sucking fuel upwards.
Harness bar fitted. left polythene on it to save scratches. Thought this to be a safer option than the harness linking to rear seat backrest, even with spreader plate. I must be getting old thinking about safety far more this time around!
Oil cooler fitted with oils tat this time around. Quite easy to fit, although not sure how neat it looks. So long as it does the job though!
New engine steady after I broke the stud in the block. Will blame that on age.........mine or the stud though???

And decided to fit a filterking to hopefully stop the carb being flooded by the. fuel pump?
New wiring loom was purchased from AutoSparks. Went for the standard loom and will add to is as required and have added second fuse box for this purpose . Have had to ask a few questions on the forum, just asked one earlier! However nearly have everything working correctly. Can't believe every light works. Not bad seeing not used since 1992 and lights have been lying on shelves etc.
Also managed to wire in the fuel pump, via a relay and it worked!
Popped a seat back in. It is a shame I don't have two of these.
Had some issues trying to get it to start. Was turning over but no spark. Replaced the usual things HT leads spark plugs etc but appears to have been the little wire that runs from the Low Tension connector into the dizzy. Managed to get a new one and a better rotor arm and an additional earth wire from Distributor Doctor. Then after a schoolboy error wiring the leads to the top of the points was rectified, Baldric finally fired! Yippee. Drove off drive turned round and came back, A magic moment. Son videoed but he is away at the moment so struggling to upload.

Re your harness bar - if you're going to compete next year, don't forget the MSA is mandating HANS devices for most motorsport disciplines. We spent a lot of time setting up our harness bar, harnesses & seat to the set up required by the current blue book requirements only to find that they are incompatible with HANS requirements!Good progress though, Baldrick's coming along nicely!Keith
Hi Keith, have read about the Hans requirement, but didn't realise that may affect harness layout? However, doubt we will be competing in him. Too worried about damaging him now!! Already thinking about other cars and maybe making Baldric more road use friendly long term? Need to sort a few more jobs, but replacement V5 has arrived, so hoping to try for an MOT shortly.......

Still if you aren't competing in him you don't need to worry about such nonsense!!

It's the angles of the belts in both the vertical & horizontal that is different. At present the msa 'ideal' is to have the belts as close to horizontal as possible whereas hans say they should be inclined down by a certain angle! And when I used to rally in the 70's & 80's perceived wisdom was to cross the shoulder belts behind the seats. When we prepared the Ibiza we had before the Mini I did the same. Turned up to our first hillclimb & the scrutineer wouldn't let us run until we uncrossed them. Now hans say they should ideally be crossed.... D'oh!!Still if you aren't competing in him you don't need to worry about such nonsense!!K
The angle and crossing of belts seems a little odd. Sure all the rally cars I have seen some of which had Hans were all uncrossed and all fairly straight to harness bars. Surely crossing add s to rubbing where they go through the seats? Although not looking to compete in the Mini, still fancy competing in something, so will have to get clued up on the whole Hans thing, so glad you raised the point. Just thought. Think the harness bars were initially designed for Mighty Minis, so wonder what they will do next year?
