Seeing as I couldn't find any videos of Accusparks limiter, thought I'd make one of my own. Only got the limiter a couple of days ago, very very easy to install and use, and it hasn't broken yet!  :P Set it to about 6000rpm for now, but I really bought the limiter so that I can turn it down and not over-rev the freshly rebuilt 1275 that's going in, that admittedly has yet to exist, but hopefully will be created in the coming months...

Enjoy.

There are instructions yes haha, it was literally the easiest electrical thing I've ever fitted to the car, there are three wires (all with pre-crimped ring terminals), one black, one white, one red. The black is an earth, so got screwed in to a hole in my inner wing, and the red and the white go on to the positive/negative terminals on the coil - that's it! Get a small spanner/socket on the nuts that hold the male spade terminals on to the coil power studs and undo the nuts, slip on the right ring connectors, then put the terminals back on and connect everything up again - easy peasy!

I fitted the box itself to the inner wing with just a single self-tapper, again in to a random hole that happened to already be there  Must have taken me all of about half an hour, and then you adjust the limit with a tiny screwdriver that's provided in the box. Needless to say I'm very impressed with it, especially seeing as it's only £30 - so much cheaper than the alternatives!

How compatable is this unit ?  i.e. can i use it on a rover v8 haha.

Sounds as though it would be as coils are the same but thought id ask to be sure as its software might go "Fizz fizz, bang bang" knowing my luck :goaway:

Neat job, and wow, cheap too. :-)

Used to use a similar but much more expensive one on my Celica back in the day. Using a momentary push button by the gear stick, holding it down engaged the rev limiter at 4600rpm, letting it go turned the limiter off.

So on the Celica which was turbo'ed and 4 wheel drive, this gave a basic launch control. Means you could go full throttle on the line and build to about 7psi of boost (full boost was around 22psi). Dump the clutch then let go of the button as you reached for second gear. Stopped it bogging down off the line. Worked really well and gave you about 3/4 - 1 second over the quarter mile. Used to use it at Santa Pod a lot.

The side effect was when sat on the line and limiter engaged, it made an almighty racket of bangs, pops and flames, very anti-lag like. Usually scared the other competitor out of the win. :-)

Video of another owner doing the same below.

Cheers

Ian

does the accuspark systen have a second setting that can be used as a kind of launch control? I've been looking at these for no other reason than to make pops and bangs!

If all you want is pops and bangs, I have a dodgy condensor you can have for nowt. Pops and bangs like a bad un every time you put your foot down.

Don't expect too much, the Accuspark one is cheap for a reason  If you want launch control as well, then that's part of where the extra money goes in something like this Omex one:

Pretty sure Hegnirst has one like that in his clubby.
