Not so much heavy rot but where water has sat in it for so long, it's soaked down into the panel seams so that will need addressing.
Every single seam and panel lap is rusted badly. ☹

Hi Ben,

I saw your Mini 25 rebuild at the top of the listing and thought I’d start reading at the beginning without knowing there were 99 pages! And what an epic read; after multiple house moves, job changes, a flood, almost blinding yourself, not to mention the thousands of hours work, I am really gutted for you, to see the shell in its current state at the mercy of the elements must be heart wrenching.

But as Avtovaz has said above, if anyone can fix it, you can, so it will be interesting to see how you proceed.

Either way I wish you all the best and look forward to the next instalment

Regards,              Mark

Ben, I have just read through all of this over the last few days. My project is going on 11 years now and is way worse a state than yours. You can turn that around. I could only wish for your body work skills.

Doesn't look that bad in that picture, obviously can't see the floor. Is that an E46 touring lurking next door?

It is pretty bad inside but I wouldn't say it's beyond repair.

It's just sad to see it in that state after all the work.

And yes cp, that's my old tourer next to it. I must get that sold actually!

Cheers

Ben

so, will you be able to get to it one day? i mean , could you get it on some pallets or something so it can dry out and just air a bit?

I have to say, most of the reason i bought my mini was reading this thread mate, and i thought i could just do the same! but it isnt that easy, id love to see the car done more than id like to see say project binky, or project hugo the 240z.

I am going to be gaining some workshop space at work in a few months time so I am hoping that this will leave me enough extra space to bring it inside to store until such a time it can be worked on.

The roof of my paint mixing room is about the right size so it could be fork lifted onto there. Not ideal but at least it's inside.

I really do want to finish it but I just have no idea when. I just don't have any spare time at the moment.

To make things worse, all the parts are stored in my summer house in the garden which has become damaged in the storms and so everything is potentially damaged in there too.

I'm have to find somewhere else to store it all.

put the parts in bags, put them now ontop of the paint room, then put them in the shell when you put the shell up there!!! ;)))
