The knuckle joints were bought from a local motor factors (motorsev) Unfortunately they don’t post or deliver, and with the mini or less common vehicles the parts have to be ordered in and take a few days. But as I have to order parts on line or via eBay and wait for delivery, it still works out better/cheaper to order the Delphi branded items and collect 2 days later.

That makes sense. Is there a part number that I can search for?

I paid £6.55 each for the first pair and £6.83 each for the second a pair a year later, witch isn't too more expensive compared to the crap ones with disintegrating rubbers and poor quality machining.

That's great! Thank you, appreciate it. Need to see if I can find it online. Have to replace all four of mine as the rubbers have completely broken without even seeing the road . . .

The other wheel arch has now been given the same treatment, and I’ve just noticed I’ve missed a bit on the rear subframe.

I haven’t got any pics, but spent 6 hours earlier today giving the whole car a wipe down, polish and good waxing. Paying extra attention to the areas that were never polished or finished properly. I’ve still got the door shuts, bonnets edges and interior panel work to do, but did make a start on correcting the dry patches and over spray on the n/s inner door with the old G3.

Far too grey and overcast (and much colder) to get the mini outside for pics of yesterday’s efforts. As silvers one of those colours that the light has to be just right otherwise it just ends up looking flat.

That looks amazing! Good shine for a silver car, especially in dull weather!

it's such a shame you were let down so badly by this cretin, it must have soured the restoration for you.  However, it does look fantastic in the pictures so hopefully a summer of using it will dull the pain!

Thanks, and makes the 6 hours of polishing on a freezing cold drive (the sun didn’t stay out for long when I started) worth it. There’s still a few areas that need further work, bits of crap in the paint, dull patches etc. But the paint overall feels soo much smoother and has helped hide some of the imperfections (witch personally shouldn’t be there from a “professional” regardless of the cost).

Although I’ve used nothing special, just g3 were needed, Autoglym super resin, old school turtle wax original and plenty elbow grease. Although I will pitch up a chair when my stupid next-door neighbour (whose attempts at not being nosey couldn’t be any more obvious) sets too with a bottle of tcut to try and polish up his black car to outshine mine. Although he might want to try ‘washing’ it with something else instead of an old t-shirt and bottle of windolene.

Sounds like my mother in law.

She wipes the worst bits off with kitchen paper now and then

It has, and has made me question myself quite a few times.  And wondering if it was me with others around more interested in how good it looks, and not being able to see the other stuff. As the last car this guy painted for someone I was working on came back great, mine on the other hand I’ve ended up with basic issues and altitude you wouldn’t expect from a professional.  Still a bad workman always blames his tools.

All I can do is work with what I have, improve the bits I can and as you say try and enjoy it over the summer.

But he does that and then has the cheek to complain about scratches.

I can't really say anything. It's hard to even tell what condition my car is in as I never wash it.

My car looks like it's brown instead of silver  >_<

I drive on really muddy roads on my way to and from work so washing the car is pointless. Thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it  ;D

Although I can't really talk about washing the mini, as its been every other trip out I've at least giving it a quick once over. But my excuse is with the paint being fresh the last thing I want is for dirt, mud and grit to be left sitting on the paint for any longer than it has too.
