Now I have the weather on my side right now and 11 years later ive now come to restore my old lil mini.

This was originally my first car when I was 17. It was road worthy and pretty clean. it currently has a 1000cc engine which was done by Avonbar. It did have a stage 3 head on it many years ago but when I had my foot to the floor all the way back it blew the head gasket and cracked in various places on the head, it then got replaced with a standard head. when the cylinder head got taken off it was only then I realised it had flat top pistons.

Not even a year after passing my test bk in '03' I had someone crash into the side of my mini when pulling out of a road. That was then end of the car. All these years I couldn't part with getting rid of it. Now I have some money spare I thought it should be put towards this as I have had it sitting for so long.

Im now in the process of stripping it down to a bare shell, then it will go to somebody that has been recommended to me to get sprayed red and black with all the rotten panels replaced to.

So far this is where I am at doing a Saturday and a sunday

Its gonna be a slow process but thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on the way it goes.

Had another go this weekend. Most of the inside out now, and a few peripherals round the engine removed. Hardest thing was the pedal box coming out as the was two shear bolts that were hard together at. Managed to use a punch and knock them round to get them out.

Managed to get the engine out today. I had the to engine mounts of the subframe to remove, the pin and nut and bolt on the gear linkage to be removed. They were easy enough to do, the only problem I had we're the drive shafts coming out. After a lot of prizing knocking and lifting they managed to come out.
Thought I would lift the engine out on my own but it weren't happening, called on my ill brother to help give me a hand to lift it out.

Next step subframes

Managed to remove front and rear subframes today. The front was much easier as the rear frames bolts that bolt to the boot were quite rusty. Still all good fun.
