My son turns 17 next month and he has been getting insurance quotes, mainly online.
His car is a 1985 Ritz, all original in good condition, but came with an RC40 exhaust and LCB
manifold. He declared this to the insurance companies, because it is a performance
enhancer, whilst it also sounds great !

My question is would it still be a performance exhaust and now just a 'sound enhancing ' one
if the LCB was replaced with std. cast maifold with the magic link pipe to the rear single box ?

Then he could retain the look and sound (in part) of the RC40.

Cheers

what i did was to say the car was standard, then after say a week, declare the other mods (exhaust, alloys etc)

also i paid £2000+ at 18 years old, for a standard engined 998 mayfair.

Just tell them its a "modified exhaust system". My insurers didn't question that at all and it barely raised the price
