My mate is 18 the same as me, has no no-claims bonus and is insured on an A3 black edition fully comp for £850 with an agreed value of £16500 and 8000 miles.

I tried my mini with the same company and they want £2800 even though its only a 1275... i also tried his car just out of interest and they want £6200? How does this even make sense?!

hi, has he got any named drivers on his policy? i put my mum and my bosses wife on mine and it brought the price down by over £1000. i only pay around £600 for a corsa b 1.4l, that's for an 18 year old with no no claims bonus

thanks

Where does he live and what does he do for a living? Occupation and postcode can make a significant difference to your premium.

This is true, even down to very local effects. Monte coops mini got nicked from six doors away from me and my mini insurance went up by £20, didn't affect my MGB premium even though the mini lives in an alarmed garage, is alarmed, immobilised and tracked and has a removable steering wheel. The MGB lives on the drive.

EDIT: I should point out the £20 is 33% of the premium!

It could be that a mini has been stolen locally but an Audi hasn't, or that it is a high crime area for cars so the minis poor security is affecting it. Still seems a lot of difference even then. Why not phone them and ask?
