Hi,

I am going to chop a roof off today. And i was wondering if anyone had done this before and if anyone had any tips?

I.e is there a best order in which to cut the pillars. Was thinking of cutting pillars in following order: rears 1st, fronts 2nd and middle last?

I'm aiming to cut at base of pilars (bottom of glass level) and will have an assistance to help support roof as i make final cuts.

Shell is on ground so shouldnt bend and is bare also.

I will be cutting off using a cutting disc on a grinder.

Any tips or hints much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ed

Just take your time, i dont really think it matters which order you cut the pillars.

so the shell wont collapse as assume there quite a bit of strength in roof. The rest of shell is reasonably solid alothough has bad areas of rust hence breaking up of shell.

When i cut the roof off one i rolled a few times, the doors wouldnt open after, but the shell was scrap so i werent too bothered., if you want to avoid this, id weld some box section across the door gaps.

Does it matter which way you cut it then?

I'd tend to use a Stihl 12" Petrol Whirly Wheel - I've cut down cast iron lamp posts with mine...lovely old yolk it is.
