I am in the process of rebuilding a remote gearbox and noticed one of the selector shaft detent screws had four rather than a single copper washer fitted.  Any ideas of why someone would have done that?

Would it of been a way of making it select a gear more easily by reducing the spring rate from spacing out the screw??

First and third gear dog teeth looked well worn whilst forth and second ok.  Anything to do with the modification above?

Thanks
