Hi,

Well, these boots are only about 8 months old, and are now in worse condition than the ones they replaced (which were very old).

Could coolant cause this? I had a heater pipe pop off not too long ago showering everything.

There's no evidence of brake/clutch fluid leak.

Does fuel do this to rubber? I can't see a fuel leak but that doesn't mean it's not leaking

Thanks :)

I would say bad rubber, likely not made by a regular supplier in the UK.... Usual sort of problem these days.

They came with the pot joints from minispares, so I'm not sure of the brand/quality.

I have some spare unipart boots, are they of decent quality?

I bought a new pot joint from Moss and within the a year with almost no use, the surface of the boot/gaiter was all cracked. But then the differential came to the rescue. And I had to replace everything. O_O

Was it fitted right?  It looks like it's stretched inside out which will make it fail early.

It's being pulled in the picture because the hubs are off, so the drive shaft has moved outwards slightly :)
