Hi, I got my Mini tracked a while ago and now have time to start fixing some of the problems on it. It's pulls to the left when coasting or lightly accelerating but it goes straight if I put my foot down. It then pulls to the right when braking which makes it fun when I drive the other car as I correct it under braking when I don't need to. >_<

I know(think) the front right tie-bar is slightly bent in 2 places and will be replacing and the front left break is binding slightly but that'll be fixed soon. I'm guessing that's causing it to pull left and then right under braking.

After the first, and last time I used a garage to do some work the tracking seemed rather wrong so I took it somewhere else to get it checked. The pillock put 2.8mm toe-out on one wheel and 0 on the other...

Anyway, now my car has negative camber on the front left and positive camber on the front right which probably won't be helping tire wear or handling. Is there anything that can cause this or a few things I could check and replace if needed or is it just another one of those Mini things?

I've got 2 shims from MS for the back but I need another. Are they easy to fit? Thanks again!

How can you put 2.8mm tow out on one wheel and nothing on one? Surely that is averaged across both wheels?

I personally would renew all and every rubber bush, it also looks like you have a lot of fore and aft movement on wheel centers etc

Ahhh OK I understand that diagram now..... you have tracking moving from 0 to  -1.2 degrees on the left and +2.8 to - 1.3 degrees on the right giving you an overall variation or movement of +2.8 to - 1.2 degrees which is pretty bad so something is knackered on both sides but more so on the right giving you a total right bias pull. Just check for wear all over inc wheel bearings. Jack it up and check rack play, track rod wear, etc etc it could be cheap fixes at worst a knackers rack but racks normally go noisy (clunk) first.

There will always be some movement even on a new car as a result of combined tolerances adding up, as for the front camber, check the lower arm rubber at one side and ball joint wear at the other end on both sides and as Hubba said above.
