Hey got my engine running fine now, took her for a run and she's over heating, iv had her rubbing for a week or so now, sometimes she over heats, thought if fixed it but nope back to square one. The radiator get hot water to the top, but after about 1/3 the way down my radiator is stone cold. All the pipes are hot. It is an spi so there's a mix of pipe work. Iv taken all the connectors off I can get to and there is no air in then. Warm water gets to the heater, but still over heats. I'm stuck, help!! Lol

almost all minis overheat at idle, if at lights you will need to keep the rpm up so that the viscus fan is turning fast enough to cool the engine, another way around this is haveing an electric fan, although being a spi i would have though you would have one of them mine did, if it does have one is it working its on the inner arch and is normally controlled by a thermistatic resistor, which switches the fan on when the engine reaches a certain temperature, you can always splice the wires on the electric fan and put a switch on dash so that you can have the fan constantly running hope this helps

almost all minis overheat at idle,

Do they???? I could leave both of mine idling until the fuel runs out and don't even come close to overheating and that without an added electric fan.

Have you tried letting it run up to temperature with the rad/expiation tank cap off and the heater on hot to bleed the system of any air?

might be a spi thing, mine does it and so does someone i knows do it, also if you put the heater on and put it at hot that works aswell haha because it acts like a second radiator haha

try this ^^  what 1984mini25 said

My electrics are playing up so I have no heater or rev counter atm but ill have her idling at 1500-2k with the cap on, or off and she'll still get hot =[. The hot water doesn't get to the radiator, or at least the bottom to even operate the switch for the fan. Iv tried opening up hose connectors to see if any air come out, no luck.

Where shoul I fill the radiator up to? Because its pretty full atm, about an inch from the top(I believe spis have to have it fuller because of the sandwich plate?) but would it being to fill have an affect?

Oh and it seems to me no coolant flows through the top pipe, well a teeny weeny bit but no more than a really small trickle, hardly anything, that's not normal right? And before people say thermostat, the hot water gets to the sandwich plate, and through to the manifold/heater so it does open =]

You have put your thermostat the wrong side of the sandwich plate.  It should be above it.
