Hi guys I recently purchased a mini and needed to sorn it. As I don't yet have the v5 , in my name I sent back the tax disc and applied for the car to be sorned because it requires work. This was now 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard from dvla and the car is still showing as taxed on the dvla website. Does anyone know how long it takes to come into force normally? Thanks

i had to wait about 4 - 6 weeks for my V5 to come back, as for sorn it should be in place from the date you put it on the form, DVLA does have a massive backlog so waiting time is usually a while

Where are you, I walked into the DVLA in Swansea with the V5 and I got a temp note from them saying it was SORN and the V5 came back in a fortnight. But it is the day you send your tax disc off it is valid from.
