Right... I have a dilemma...

Painted my minis a few times in the past with no issues. However, this time i'm really struggling to get the paint off the wings and bonnet. They seem to have been contaminated with something so I'm stripping them back to bare metal. My sander is only managing the break the surface before the pad gets clogged up and you've only cleared and inch square. I bought some paint stripper earlier in the week and after 6 coats, only a few random areas have come off, the bottle said I'd only need 2! lol

Sooo... does anyone have any cures for this please? I'm going to send the bonnet for blasting just because it's off the car, but I can't do that with the wings :/

Thanks thanks :)

what about putting some hardener on it?

might help it harden so you can get it of with a sander

buy a gallon of Standard Thinners, then just keep wiping the panels  down and the paint should burn off. (if its a synthetic or aerosol paint)

i wouldn't use paint stripper as (obviously) the paint wont apply very well OR will burn off if it manages to stick if the panels arent washed correctly

cheers

get a grinder and a knotted wire wheel.  That will take the paint off easy enough.

I recently finished stripping the last of the paint off the roof and other areas of my clubby. I used a 36 grit disc on the 4 1/2" grinder down to the primer then used one of those spongy fibre discs, I should find a link to help explain what I mean but I'm too tipsy just now, this cleaned the last of the paint but without marking the metal like what the grit disc will. Finished off sanding the metal with some p40 on the sander. I also used the knotted wheel on the grinder in door jams etc, but use a full face guard as those little wires hurt when they come loose and try too embed themselves into your face!

Got myself a knotted wheel, did the trick!
Frigging noisy though!
