I can never get my head round the fact that even though these cars are called a Mini, they are clearly anything but that!

Definition of MINI (noun)

: something small of its kind: as

a : minicar

b : miniskirt

c : minicomputer

Definition of MINI (adjective)
1: small in relation to others of the same kind
2: of short length or duration :

Just something for you to ponder...

Did you know that a MK1 VW Golf is smaller than the current VW Polo??

It goes without saying that a modern car is bigger than a car designed in the 1950's - cars have gradually got bigger and bigger over the past 50/60 years, simply because you can't fit modern safety, technology, suspension and four adults etc. in the package of an older car (especially considering people now expect to be comfy in a car, whereas in the 50's and 60's cars were still new for the masses, meaning people were simply happy to be able to get somewhere without taking the bus).

The problem with the Classic Mini is...

It didn't have a genuine MK2 until 2001 (the BINI) - that's over 40 years after the MK1 was introduced. Whereas other cars like the VW Golf for example have had genuine new MK's every 7 to 10 years, since they were introduced. Meaning they gradually got bigger, so no one noticed.

Unfortunately with the Classic Mini that didn't happen, so the BINI hatchback get's called massive, whereas in reality - it is in fact one of the smallest hatchbacks in it's class.

Anyway, enjoy the bank holiday guys... it's time for the pub.

Hi,

Some of you are asking about a pick up and if they would build the Rocketman and Pick up.

Well after talking with some one at MINI they have told me what plans are coming up-

The F56 or gen3 will be no bigger than the current model and they have been testing a 5 door hatch but have no plans to bring that out has yet.

2013/2014- Gen 3 followed by the drop top 2015/16

New Clubman 2015/16 with two club doors instead of one.

New Traveller- a smaller suv that would sit between the clubman and countryman

Gen 2 Countryman and Paceman production will move to the UK

Gen 2 Roadster and Coupe

A MINI saloon under the Riley name

The Rocketman is being tested as we speak but they are having issues with the safety, They are only getting a 4 star rating on the NCAP and MINI will only settle on 5 before it will go in to production. Possible it will be built in Holland due to high demand of the current MINI and production at Oxford.

The Gen2 Clubvan and the Pick up around the same time 2016.

MINI want 11 models in the range-

1-Hatch

2-Clubman

3-Convertable

4-Countryman/Paceman

5-Pick up

6-Clubvan

7-Traveller

8-Roadster

9-Coupe

10-Saloon

11- Rocketman
