Hi all.

I recently changed my discs and pads and seem to have a wheel wobble at 25mph

There is some other factors involved that may be worth mentioning.

Removing the hub nut on the drivers side was an absolute pig.

Tried a breaker bar with another pipe over that, 4 feet of leverage and some heat and still no joy.

Took it to a tyre place in the end and they cracked it with the gun..

I changed everything over and took it out for a spin. That's when I found the wheel wobble happening.

Have had the wheels balanced properly since and its no better.

It comes on at 22mph and goes away around 27mph then once up to around 40 its perffect again.

I am thinking of popping it on axle stands in the morning and let it run to see if there is anything buckled etc.

Has anyone had this or similar, or any ideas and thoughts.?  Cheers Gazza

Hi Gazza,

It's quite easy to get the discs not sitting perfectly flat against the drive flanges when changing them.

Any bits if dirt grit & s**t between the drive flange and disc surface will result in the disc not running true.

Its easy to check this by jacking the car up, whipping off one wheel and spinning the disc/drive flange whilst looking at the disc near the caliper/pads. Any "run-out" will be easily visible.....does that wobble become harsher during braking?

Cheers,

Steve.

Thanks for the reply. Will try that.
No issues when braking though. have changed tyres front to rear. Still the same.
Also I notice that the problem is more pronounced when on a curve in the road.
Have no play if wiggling the wheels and no noises from bearings.
Really stumped.
