Hi, currently got a twin box rc40. When I fitted this was using the mini as a daily driver to do about 250 miles  week. I now have another car for this so the mini is more of a toy. I've been thinking about changing to a differant exhaust and after many hours reasearch on YouTube ;-) I have decided a single box Rc40 is the one for me. How much louder is it than the twin box? Although the mini is no longer a daily I still use it occasionally to commute and do regular long distance trips often including motorways so its still covering high miles for the type or car it is.

Cheers rob

I've never actually heard a twin box RC40 but I have the single box large bore centre exit RC40. If someone else takes the car down the road I can hear it until its about a quarter/half of a mile away give or take a bit. It is loudish and a nice sound but still not loud enough for me, but hey, I'm young, I like to make noise!

Aw c'mon it's not that bad! It's got a wee rasp to it, unlike the twin DTM 3 inch bore thing, now that sounds like a fart

the spec of the engine will have a great deal to do with the sound of the exhaust......I've no idea what you've got under the bonnet at the moment so hard for me to comment

I have got a single box RC40 side exit on my 998 daily driver and it sounds great, I don't really think it's too loud at all, but ad mentioned above this will change depending on the engine spec

I had a single box RC40 on my stage 1 998cc Mayfair. It was nice & fruity but not too noisy. However, when I changed to a stage 3 1301cc with 266 Cam, it got a lot noisier. Same exhaust system (I bought an LCB for the 998 as I knew I was upgrading in a few months) but you WILL notice the difference with a tuned 1275+. My neighbours didn't like it much, especially at 5am...

I've got a standard bore single box RC40, and I find that it's absolutely fine about town and on the open road up until about 50 mph. Motorways and dual carriageways are a bit of a different matter though, as it's really too loud to hold a conversation with anyone else in the car with you. I also found it was a lot quieter before I removed the CAT, with the CAT on it really wasn't ever too loud, even at full throttle.

Mm the decision gets harder! I love the sound as it is but in order to get the full effect you need to have at least the back windows open which can be a bit chilly at high speeds. I sort of wanted the effect all the time but without being deafend. Looks like that's not possible! Don't want to sacrifice power in the pursuit of noise. Engine is standard apart from stage 1 with freeflow manifold. No plans to go mad but maybe a few little bits like changing the cam in the future but will be still very much a fun road rather than a fast road/ track.

I have a twin box centre exit RC40 with the large bore tip on it. I don't know if the centre exit it makes it much louder than a side exit, but it is loud! Too loud on the motorway to be honest. I'd stick with a twin box version.
