So I have been having problems keeping my battery charged (new) van one 075 I think.  Fan belt is in good nick, no squeel.

 

I have a 550watt RMS system (Alpines ratings)

 

What alternator should I be looking at getting for my '78 998?

 

45 or 70?

Have you checked to see what voltage you battery is providing. If its knackered a new alt wont change a thing. What are the fuse ratings on your amps to get an idea of the current they will pull?

The battery is only 2 months old, I will get her charged up and see what she reads.

 

The one amp has a 20Amp fuse, and the other has dual 20Amp fuses. Good idea doing that, so that is a 60 amp max, so I would like to think that the 45 amp alt wont be enough?

 

 The amps are Alpine MRP240 that is bridged at 2x100watt RMS @4ohms

                        Alpine MRP350 mono running 2x175watt RMS @ 2ohms
