need some advice really.... Just put my 1330 In and now need to run it in. Drove it last night, didn't go over 3.5k, but at around 3k it feels like its not running correctly. also was wondering if I've been recommended the correct needles.... My engine spec is as follows:

1330cc
Kent 286
big valve head
twin HS4
I'm running number 7 needles at the moment, and was just wondering if these are correct?

also the plungers on each carb that lift up the inner of the carb, what should happen when these are lifted? Should car idle speed increase slightly? as it isn't doing that, and I've been told it should, so too rich?

sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance!

Hard to tell  exactly what needles without dyno etc , but the 7 s will be close  ( just some caution about running to0 rich for running in) .. at idle , if you push the plunger  it momentarily lifts the carb bell   - if idle momentarily rises and then falls - mixture is correct. if it rises and stays elevated  then too rich, if it stumbles or labours, stalls etc too lean   - be careful though  as you normally do this when engine fully warm and without airfilters and without vacuum /breathers   connected   - the filters can change the mixture -- but without having MOT to worry about over in AUS - we can just set the idle a bit higher ( slightly lumpy at 1100 say)   ---that shouldn't have any impact on 3 thousand revs  - that could be ignition timing

Cheers mate! Last time I ran the engine I had AAA needles, ran it way too rich and bore washed it, new rings and a re hone after just over 1500 miles, which wasn't good! Don't want to do that again! I will try that tonight, at the moment it trys to cut out as I lift the plungers, so must be too lean. Idles lovely and timing is in, so may just be where my other two are standard 998s, where I'm not used to driving a modified one
