This thread is bearing in mind value and the job done. I am looking at a full rebuild and possibly boring. How much would I be looking at as well?

for the block you would be looking at around £500 in parts, assuming the rebore so new pistons and rings needed. And assuming a standard rebuild.

Around 100 for the rebore and 50 for a crank grind if needed.

You can get a rebuilt gearbox from guessworks for around the 600 mark.

Head reconditioning depends on the condition of the head, but budget 130 ish.

There will also be things like gaskets etc to add plus of course the man hours if your not doing it yourself.

You would be looking at around the 1800 mark for a proper job.

I would stick to an A series specialist. If your prepared to travel or courier the engine then you would open up your options considerably.

ML Motorsport have one of the best reps around, Rob Walker engineering is highly regarded.

Sounds good, not for at all! Can anyone explain what the difference between an A series and an a+ etc etc and how I can tell what mine is?
