In general appearance not really, but there are shed loads of differences which will make it obvious which is a 1970 and which is a 1989.

Starting with..

Shape of the central tunnel,

Attachment of front subframe

Roof gutter

Rear seatbelt mounts

Rear bulkhead

Front cross member

I could go on, and that's before you start on the trim...

Which is why it's so easy to spot a pre 1973 tax exempt mini which is actually something else..... Guv.... Say no more ;-)

yes the engine for a start, the 1970 gearbox will be either a remote change or magic wand type, drum brakes, a 5.5gallon fuel tank, centre binnacle clocks, single bolt front subframe, solid subframe mounts, a dynamo instead of an alternator, no wheel arches, no sound deadening on floor, roof drip rail extensions, big steering wheel, no side indicators, 10" wheels, single stalk instuments, single speed wipers, manual type washer pump, no air vents, ignition barrel different, rear lights have no reverse light, single line handbrake, ashtrays in the rear bins, bootlid has seal on the lid rather than the main body, exhaust tunnel shape, 2 fuse box mounted on inner wing, no upper dash rail, door pulls should be horizontal hanging type, wing mirrors, rear seat panel has an oval panel that can be removed.
