Thinking to fit a stereo system, but as my mini is loud thought I would test the noise levels. Tested with android phone with free app so just shows DB not DB at HZ and a mic on a phone which I would imagine would be optimized for voice so not sure what ranges it picks up, but its a start.

So db at idle 66db and going up to 78db (average was 73db) on my drive to work all town so motorway would be higher I would imagine.

SO is it worth fitting a stereo system to listen to while driving?

Thanks

Abs

It is worth it to pass the time, you could always get some sound deadening done, Just remember to go loud!

Borrow a DB meter from H&S at work. Phone is a bit out.

Idle is 74db at 50mph it 86db topped at 90db but know it can be louder as didn't blast it just a normal drive

Every mini is loud! I had a stereo, more than worth it is you want to listen to radio/ipod.

You could always invest in some sound insulation. carpet underlay is good for inslulation if you on a budget, or closed cell foam (wont absorbe any water!) and then something to isolate the sound, like mass loaded vinyl. ebay will be your friend on this. Important places to insulate, inside on the bulkhead and under the bonnet.

My mini has NO sound deadening and is quite loud inside, radios have volume controls ;) just turn it up louder :)

FYI every 3 DB is twice as loud, you can get speakers and amp that will go well above it, even on motorway for cheap

http://caraudiosecur...amplifier-deals

i got cheapest 6X9 pack and it went fine, worth doing

below 80 isn't that loud but i wouldn't trust phones, for one they have limitations and are not designed for that in the slightest.

my home speaker goes 125 :') that hurts !
