I bought a set of calipers an disks of a member here ( thank you) taking a trip to my local mini spares shop 38miles away in Warrington the chap behind the counter informs me I need 7.5 hubs!! Is this true? The calipers are copy's not original cooper s one look like mini spares ones.
My mini originally was a rover mini running 12" wheels to start
Thank you

If you had 8.4" discs before the picture below shows all the parts you need. Everything else you use off the old setup

You dont need new hubs no, the 8.4 to 7.5 kit consists of calipers, disks and drive flanges, drive flange attaches to the disk, then the hub and caliper bolts to hub :)

Sometimes you do , sometimes you don't. When the 7.5" discs were being fitted the hub, although being the same base casting, was machined slightly differently. It had more clearance at the nose inside the disc bell. When the system was changed to the 8.4" there was more space available inside the bell so the machining process was deleted to save costs. Sometimes there is a problem here and sometimes there isn't, it's an issue caused by tolerances stacking up. If you find there disc, hub and drive flange you are using don't leave enough clearance you can try swapping parts around or get a little machining done to get clearance.

cheers guys. looking at the pic you posted irostoke I have everything in the picture bar... those tiny nuts it it? in the bottom left hand corner next to caliper and pins.
Dan you talk about machining? where abouts?

The fixings you are missing are countersunk screws that fix the disc to the drive flange.
The machining that has been missed from the hub would be a taper on the edge of the outer section where it carries the outer oil seal for the bearing. You could either get this machined or get the inside of the brake disc relieved as little as possible to provide clearance and then get the balance checked. All this is only needed if it actually turns out there is a problem, in many cases there is enough clearance anyway which is why this kit doesn't include the hubs.
