Have been trying to diagnose what is making my car shake when it gets up to about 60mph. I have had my tracking done and the wheels balanced. Today I jacked it up and span the wheels by driving the car (while on stands  :shy: ) and the drivers side wheel doesn't turn ( well hardly at all) even at about 50mph.

Was wondering if anyone can help me with how to go about solving this problem?

Cheers

That's normal, that's just how the differential works.

You'll find that if you allow the engine to idle and carefully stop the spinning wheel then the opposite side will spin instead

right you are. So any ideas on the shaking? What are the common causes if the wheels are balanced and the tracking has been done?

Does it judder under braking too?  I'd tend to suspect the tie rod bushes if so.

Going out in it later will test the brakes

This could be the issue. Is the tie rod the one that goes from the wheel hub to the subframe just behind the bumper?

Yes. But check also for anything at all worn, including steering rack and track rod ends, wheel bearings, lower arm bushes, top and bottom ball joints, and particularly subframe mounts. Those at the toeboard often fail, the rubber coming away from the metal, which is not easy to spot as the bits stay in place.

Just about anything loose at the front can cause various symptoms including juddering and vibration.
