Well basically the story goes like this.

My dad owns a 1994 1.3i cooper that has sat on the drive since 2008 & i told him it was time to make it move so last night we tried turning it over with a fresh battery & it turned over allot easier than i was expecting & the pump was easily heard. We then noticed it needed fuel so today we got some & put it in the tank. no prime sound at all but we tried & tried to get it running. even poured fuel into the throttle to witch it did run on but only until it was all used.

We checked the fuel pump bypass switch was working which it was & it seemed the pump had died. I got the pump out of the tank (That was a ball ache too) & hooked ti up to the battery all on its own & it never made a noise.

I am unsure of what make of pump it is to get a replacement & looking on websites for SPI & MPI ones they look different to the one we have.

Anybody got an idea as to the pump so we can get a new one & anybody able to tell me how to find out what point injection it is?

the mini spares website is quite good when it comes to suggestions, the link I posted gives another link to the fuel pump alone as well as recommended products, exploded drawings and items that other people have purchased.

the pump alone is here http://www.minispare.../WFX100811.aspx

If you scroll down it recommends a gasket.

Yeah i know it needs a gasket as when i pulled the pump out of the unit (the pipes & stuff) the rubber was white in places & split open.

Thanks for the help.

You don't need an "extra grunt" pump, there is a fuel pressure regulator up front that will keep the pressure where needed, if it's been sitting for a long time check your vacuum lines, elbows and fuel vapour trap.

You don't say which one? Front handbrake lever back http://www.minispare...|Back to search

Or between the two drums which is what you quote.
To be honest if you are not sure, give them a bell, always very helpful
