Hi,

Just found this thread so I thought I would upload a few pics of my car.

It is a 1981 Mk8 Davrian, one of 6 built with an A series engine although I think there is just one other road version as they were mostly built for racing.

I bought it a few years ago and have since restored it although the body is as I got it with just a little polish

The engine has been improved over time and now runs a water cooled ball bearing IHI turbo, 36/31mm valve head, MD266, bespoke intake system with charge cooler and megasquirt EFI.

Just finished rebuilding the gearbox after an idler gear broke up so now it runs a MED roller idler setup, SSCR gears and Xpin diff.

Goes and handles rather well.

thats one of the best looking kit cars i have ever seen, if it had different front headlights, like e type or chevron b8 style ones..  :D  it would be the best thing!

looks like it should be powered by a big 2l engine!, not a widdle a seires!

bet it still shifts like mad with that awsome engine, top marks!

Thanks.

It does only weigh 600kg or so and with about 160hp its not too bad.

I was going to put another engine type in but wanted to keep a link to its originality

They are gorgeous. Seen them with Imp engines but never A series. I have missed a few on eBay as they always go for a bit more than I can afford. Some great ones on the hillclimb circuit.

If correct they started life on a VW pan, back in the day it was a car to beat on the hill climbs most likley with Imp power :-) I would have one as well

If its blue and you are near Ukfield, the car will have an highly tuned Imp engine

It is blue and I'm about and hour and half away from ukfield! The highly tuned imp engine is ringing some bells so you're probably right!

Good looking car, very clean. Likewise I have only really seen the Imp versions.

That's the first A-Series one I've ever seen. Most of them are Imps although I've seen a few with Vauxhall Red Tops. Davrians are popular on Tarmac Rallies, there was about 6 of them on the Jim Clark back in June.
