Removing Front Subframe

Best Answer tiger99 , 30 May 2013 - 12:12 PM

Or undo the rack U bolts and the steering column pinch bolt, and take the rack out with the subframe. Then you have more working space to separate the ball joints. Go to the full post

Hello,

I am having an issue removing the front subframe. I have all the bolts off however I cannot get the steering link off.

I tried to test the tie rod end off but could not get the rod off the

I then tried to get the bolts of the hub, but there is a piece of metal that is stopping getting them undone.

A photo is attached

Any tips?

Have you got a picture of this piece of metal that is stopping them being undone?

The piece of metal that is stopping them is the plate that they are bolted through. It is on the top of the hub, are these the ones that should be undone?

Thanks,

That's what I ended up doing, as I couldn't get the tools for undoing ball joints. Just needed to take the bolt that was holding the steering rod completely out so that it could come out.
