Wheel Cylinder Gasket Question

Best Answer tiger99 , 03 June 2013 - 12:25 PM

Doesn't really matter. Most people leave them dry. Its function is to keep water out of the drum, which is not entirely effective anyway as it can come in round the edge. It also keeps water from getting between cylinder body and backplate and causing rust, but you will get some rusting there anyway. You could apply a tiny little bit of Waxoyl. Go to the full post

i dont think it takes any pressure so can probably go on dry, but if youve got the sealant, stick a dab on. better be safe than sorry

I fitted mine without sealant. I'm fairly sure the old ones had nothing on them and as far as I'm aware, all is ok.
